Every winter (from middle of December to early March) there is a free outdoor ice skating rink constructed at the Hotel de Ville (City Hall) located in the 4th district. This is such a beautiful setting to have an outdoor ice rink as not only is it closeby to the Seine but also one can skate while observing some beautiful buildings. In case you are not a skater and just a spectator, well, that is alot of fun too. You can be part of the crowd anyway. There's also one in Montparnasse (in front of the Train Station).
Skates are rented for around 5-8 euros or bring your own!
Eiffel Tower:
Last year, the authorities at the Eiffel tower put up a skating rink ! Best of all , once you paid for the normal entry to the tower then the skate hire was free - now that's what I call a bargain. I rather hope that this will now become an annual fixture, it sounds a really cool thing to do.
