The Eiffel Tower is not the best place to view Paris... (one of the main reasons is because you can't see the Eiffel Tower 
If you've always wanted to ascend Eiffel, don't miss the chance.
But know this: it's expensive and time-consuming when lines are long.
The Best Tip I can give you: Views from the basilica at Sacre Coeur (atop Montmartre) are breathtaking and free.
